From 2019-2022, Questacon and Defence partnered to deliver Engineering is Elementary professional learning workshops across Australia. These workshops were delivered to over 1,000 primary school teachers from 421 schools, with 94% of attendees reporting they felt confident to teach the program content and skills after attending.

From 2023-2027 Questacon and Defence are continuing their partnership to deliver a suite of programs to support Australia’s educators. This partnership will enable the delivery of professional learning programs to over 1,500 educators, equipping them with the confidence, skills, and capacity to cultivate Australia’s next generation of STEM thinkers, problem-solvers, and innovators. By creating awareness of the application of STEM to real world problems, Engineering is Elementary, Questacon STEM Futures and the new Applied STEM program will inspire students to consider careers in STEM fields.

Australia’s future as a knowledge economy depends on emerging generations being engaged with foundation skills in STEM.
